Tear down the tolls
(by NEIL LORI - October 02, 2008)
The tolls on the Garden State Parkway, New Jersey Turnpike and Atlantic City Expressway should be torn down for many reasons. When the roads were first built, the tolls were supposed to be temporary.
The tolls cause pollution because vehicles must slow down or stop and then accelerate after paying the tolls. The tolls are one of the main reasons for traffic jams. The toll workers breathe in fumes that make them sick.
The toll roads should not be widened and are a waste of money and bad for the environment. Our transportation money should be invested in trains, tracks, trolleys and light rails, not toll roads nor toll-road widening.
We the people will not put up with this latest scheme by Gov. Jon Corzine and his cronies to grab even more money from our nearly empty wallets.
