NJSO opens season with pianist Vladimir Feltsman
The New Jersey Symphony Orchestra will open its 2008-2009 season with a program that showcases both the virtuosity of its players and the magnificence of its sound. Norwegian-born conductor Arild Remmereit puts the NJSO through its paces in Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 1, with audience favorite Vladimir Feltsman as soloist.
The evening opens with American composer Michael Torke’s lively and engaging "Bright Blue Music" and culminates in Mussorgsky’s "Pictures at an Exhibition," heard in Ravel’s brilliant orchestration. It’s a fitting introduction to the NJSO season.
Performances will take place on Friday, Sept. 26, at 7 p.m., and Sunday, Sept. 28, at 3 p.m., at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark. Tickets are available by phone at 1-800-ALLEGRO (255-3476), or online at www.njsymphony.org.
